Municipality of Camagüey returns to the phase of limited autochthonous transmission of Covid-19

Camagüey, Jan 16.- The temporary work group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus in Cuba, decided this Friday to move the municipality of Camagüey back to the phase of limited autochthonous transmission of Covid-19, given the increase in positive cases to illness in the last days.

This was announced on the Roundtable by the Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal Miranda, who reported that 28 other municipalities in the country are in the same situation, with which there are 63 territories in this phase of the pandemic.

On January 12, the province of Camagüey abandoned normality, going back to the third phase of the recovery stage, with four municipalities in phase two: Jimaguayú, Najasa, Esmeralda and Camagüey. The latter today returned to the epidemic stage, while the other three did not experience changes.

Among the measures that are taken up in this new situation of the head municipality of the province, are the mandatory use of the nasobuco for all activities where there is a concentration of people; the increase in clinical research; the prohibition of entry to work centers of people with respiratory signs, as well as their referral to hospital units; the suspension of visits to admitted patients; the home isolation of positive contacts, suspects and travelers; the suspension of face-to-face classes until the recovery stage is returned, in addition to the postponement of the start of the school year in Higher Education.

Likewise, as explained by the Cuban Minister of Public Health, the productive activity and services for the state and non-state sectors will be maintained; National and international tourism also continues, as well as the rental of rental houses, complying with the established protocols.

On the other hand, bars, nightclubs, cabarets and discos do close, while the sale of products will take place in gastronomic units to take away or with home delivery.

Services to the population will remain open at their usual hours, control in queues will be strengthened to avoid crowds, and remote work and telework will be favored in the state sector.

José Angel Portal Miranda explained that in the case of those mothers or fathers who cannot attend work due to the suspension of face-to-face classes, they will be paid 100% of their salary, and from the second month, if necessary, 60% . In the event that this figure means an amount less than 1,528 pesos, which is the cost defined for the acquisition of the basket of goods and services, that amount will be paid to the worker, even if it means a higher percentage. This confirms the principle that no one will be left unprotected. (Arailaisy Rosabal García / Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photo: Alejo Rodríguez / Taken from Facebook)
