Camagüey, Jan 23.- After receiving the corresponding treatment for being positive for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 190 of the 291 Camagüeyan patients infected with the pathogen in 2021 discharged from the hospitals and centers authorized in this city to support the care work.
Alfredo Leal Gutiérrez, head of the Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) and Tuberculosis Program, explained to the press that this number of discharges - at the close of midday this Friday - represents 65.3% of the cases diagnosed with Covid- 19 in the current year.
In accordance with the protocols established since the beginning of the incidence of the dangerous disease in Cuba, those who have already been discharged from the clinic must spend 15 days under surveillance in their homes, until a negative result is obtained in the PCR test.
So far, 285 patients from the provinces of Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila remain in hospitals and other institutions equipped for medical care, 80 of them residents of the neighboring territory, reported the specialist in Hygiene and Epidemiology in a television speach.
Of this total number of admitted, 166 are confirmed, 97 of which are from Camagüey, in addition to another 24 being under observation, the doctor explained.
Leal Gutiérrez specified that the new cases receive medical assistance in units in Havana, as two of them are health collaborators in Venezuela, and the other is a 21-year-old who obtained a positive result in the PCR test carried out before traveling outside the country, from the Cuban capital.
Faced with the increase in infections, the municipality of Najasa returned to the phase of limited local transmission, while that of Esmeralda advanced to the third stage of post- pandemic recovery , as was announced in the session of the Provincial Defense Council of the last Thursday.
